Maximise your ground floor
A wraparound extension is a similarly very popular form of Victorian house extension which maximising the floor plate of the house. The extension not only goes into the side addition but also wraps around the back extending sometimes three or four meters into the garden which can provide a huge kitchen living area looking out onto the garden.
The wraparound extension involves infilling the side return and extending past the existing back of the house to create a large open plan kitchen dining and seating space.
A wraparound extension can either be pitched with slate effect tiles and VELUX windows or flat felt roof with roof light glazing. The flat roof option enables the same ceiling height in both the old part of the space but also the new, giving you a seamless sleek look
The rear elevation is then finished with fantastic bifolding doors to truly create and indoor and outdoor space.
A wraparound extension will require either the neighbours joint planning permission or an existing structure next door of a height higher than 2.1m on the boundary and can often require planning permission.
