Eleventh Element was founded by two principals who together have over 50 years of experience in the architecture, design and construction industries. Since our beginnings we have always strived to deliver the highest level of service and quality for each and every one of our clients and we’ve achieved this by constantly evolving our approach and our way of looking at things.

Josh Castle-Doughty
Founder & Director
Josh is the founder of Eleventh Element and runs the day to day management of the company, overseeing projects, designs and client liason. Josh has nearly 20 years worth of experience in the architectural design and construction industry having previously worked as a project manager on residential and commercial projects for one of London’s prominent luxury design and construction companies
Martin Doughty
Director
Martin is the co-director of Eleventh Element and assists with business management and the overseeing of projects. Martin has a wealth of over 40 years worth of experience in both the residential and commercial sides of the architectural design and construction industry. Martin specialises in not only the bricks and mortar side of the company but the cost consultancy and business side of large-scale projects.
Team
Eleventh Element has a multidisciplinary, agile team combining an extensive in-house team of site operatives covering all angles of construction, an experienced project team ranging from project managers to cost consultants and creative design team including architects, structural engineers and joinery specialists.

Josh Castle-Doughty
Josh is the co-founder of Eleventh Element and takes control of the day to day running of the company. Josh also is heavily involved with Eleventh Element’s commercial sister company, Castlemane Construction Consultancy as a senior project manager.

Chloe runs Eleventh Element’s marketing, sales and new business development. She brings ten years of experience in marketing returning to work last year after taking a break from work to raise twin Castle-Doughty’s!

James Calder
James manages Eleventh Element’s contractual frameworks and legal processes, ensuring every agreement is clear, compliant, and consistent. He supports project teams with documentation, consultant appointments, and client contracts, maintaining accuracy and structure throughout each stage of delivery.
Daniel Shaw
Daniel oversees budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across all projects. He ensures financial clarity from concept through completion, advising on budgets and expenditure to maintain transparency and alignment with client expectations.
Henry Ross
Henry manages Building Regulations compliance and technical detailing across the studio’s projects. He ensures design intent is maintained through accurate documentation, coordinated consultant input, and clear communication between design and construction teams.
Amelia Vale
Amelia advises on planning policy and strategy, guiding projects from early feasibility through to submission. She interprets local and national policy, prepares supporting statements, and manages engagement with planning authorities to ensure proposals are both compliant and deliverable.

As an architecture-led design and build practice, we have in house architects, structural engineers and designers
Site Team
We have a site team of 55 site operatives (at any one time) including groundworkers, building specialists, decorators, dry-liners and carpenters
Project Team
We have a project team of 8, including project managers, site managers, a health and safety consultant and a cost consultant
Fabrication Team
We have an in-house joinery workshop headed up by our own draftsmen and joiners who create all of our bespoke furniture and custom joinery works

We are a certified company. Our architects are RIBA accredited and our design and build works are certified by LABC and our contractors are Safe Constructions, NHBC and local authority accredited.

As an architecture-led design & build company we actively deal with challenging design briefs and projects in complex planning environments specialising in delivering the most difficult of projects efficiently, professionally and on time.
